Buenos Aires (BUENOS AIRES)

Buenos Aires, the capital of the Argentine Republic, is located at the mouth of La Plata River.
It was founded by Juan de Garay by the name of 鏑a Santsima Trinidad y Puerto Santa Mara del Buen Aire in 1580.
It is the birthplace of soccer, the tango, asado (traditional barbeque), and empanadas (meat pie); it is also a city where culture and leisure combine to give you ultimate satisfaction.

 


La Boca District (BARRIO LA BOCA)
This old port town southeast of Buenos Aires is known as the birthplace of tango. It is a popular tourist destination, specifically Caminito, with its colorful rows of houses and streets, fashionable restaurants and cafes.


San Telmo District (BARRIO SAN TELMO)
It is one of the oldest districts in Buenos Aires with a dense nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of old Argentina.
An antiques fair is held at Dorrego Square at the center of the San Telmo district every Sunday. This district is also known for its many famous tango shows inside restaurants and bars.
La Boca District
Monserrat District (BARRIO MONSERRAT)
The heart of Buenos Aires with the Mayo Square (Plaza de Mayo) being the main focal point.
Historically and politically important buildings dot the length of Mayo Avenue (Av. de Mayo), the oldest main street in the city.


San Nicolas District (BARRIO SAN NICOLAS)
It is a lively and fashionable district with popular boutiques and cafes lined up along Florida Street (Calle Florida), and with rows of bars down Corrientes Avenue (Avenida Corrientes). The district is called the information center of Buenos Aires.


Retiro District (BARRIO RETIRO)
With Retiro Station and a long-distance bus terminal, it is the hub for people who travel around South America by land.
Puerto Madero District (BARRIO PUERTO MADERO)
It used to be a port bonded warehouse district, has been converted to a high-end residential and commercial district 末 a place worth seeing.
Fashionable restaurants and shops line are located at the Alicia M. de Justo Street around the old port along the la Plata River that flows on the east side of Buenos Aires City.
A leisurely stroll down the pretty 2 km promenade is a pleasant experience, with its popular restaurants boasting their chic atmosphere and cool scenery.
Puerto Madero District
Recoleta District (BARRIO RECOLETA)
The most sophisticated district in Buenos Aires.
Argentina痴 historical and memorable personalities, as well as its prominent families are buried at the Recoleta Memorial Park. The magnificent mausoleums, designed like chapels are all over the park; these and the sculptures here are said to be of high architectural and aesthetic value. Eva Peron, popularly known as 摘vita, is buried in one of the sections here. Flowers continue to come from people who still adore her.


Palermo District (BARRIO PALERMO)
It is a plush residential zone, and is also the greenest district in the city where one can find the Palermo Park (Plaza Palermo/Parque Tres de Febrero), considered as one of the world痴 three major parks, a Japanese garden, a botanical garden, a zoo, and a golf course. Aeroparque Airport (Aeroparque Jorge Newbery) is in this district, too.

Shopping

Leather goods, silver handicrafts, and clothes are popular.
Galleries and boutiques abound on Florida Street (Calle Florida) and Santa Fe Avenue (Avenida Santa Fe).
There are impressive shopping centers in each of the main districts.
